From major development and regeneration schemes to investment and management of existing assets, approximately 60% of our lawyers practice in the sector across a wide range of disciplines including development, planning, construction, finance, investment, environmental, asset management and dispute resolution. Where you'll work
Based in the firm's second biggest UK office, the Exeter Real Estate Team currently includes 23 lawyers. Acting for a comprehensive range of SMEs, regional and national companies and investors our expertise extends beyond the day to day delivery of transactional and advisory legal services, to provide our clients with fresh thinking and commercially driven solutions.
Our multidisciplinary real estate team advises on investment and development across commercial, retail and mixed use real estate, with a strong inward investment practice. Some of the teams more notable transactions have included acting for one of the UK's largest pension funds on their property portfolio and on a recent purchase of a large pre-let retail site in Liverpool. The team also dealt with urgent negotiation and contemporaneous completion of a number of leases on sites around England and Wales to enable a national client to fulfil a newly won multi-million pound service contract.
This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified real estate solicitor up to 2 PQE to join the team. Work will include joint venture projects; investment acquisition, disposal asset management work; secured lending and commercial development and all aspects of planning.
What you'll be doing
- Involvement in all property aspects of development schemes;
- Undertaking a mix of property work for commercial landlords and tenants, government bodies, local authorities and private sector bodies including acquisitions of development sites for commercial, educational, medical and mixed use schemes. asset management, joint venture projects and large scale retail and leisure l projects;
- Portfolio sales and acquisitions;
- Advising on management agreements and other forms of commercial contracts;
- Project management and working with other specialist teams on more complex matters;
- Comply with core competencies as appropriate to the fee earner level of qualification;
- Building and maintaining and where possible initiating effective client relationships;
- Active participation in and, where appropriate leading, marketing initiatives;
- Running own files;
- Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures;
- Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions.
